Interesting. I did see one similar in the Smithsonian’s History and Technology section. I think it was from the 1940’s

Looks to be a pretty standard ’50’s balloon tired bike under all that extra sheet metal. This is the reason that English three speeds became so popular in the US in the ’50’s and ’60’s as a more practical alternative to American excess in bicycle design.
