The Great Pretender

I locked up my Raleigh Superbe last week while I had some lunch and when I came out found a Raleigh clone parked beside it.

A modern Simcoe bicycle clearly trying to duplicate the original.

What I don’t understand is why people buy the clone when they can buy the real deal,
restore it and still have money left over for beer.

I agree; been fixing/restoring as a hobby since the late 1940’s and really enjoy seeing an old timer come back to life! But I find a lot of young people havent acquired the skills to do the repair or restoration. I donate some time to a local bike coop that offers classes.
Love these posts–keep them coming Greg!
